Matariki Gala

On Thursday my school Bay of Islands College hosted a gala day all for Matariki  and I had the privilege to perform on the day and I was excited the whole time that lead up to the performance.

At the gala they had many activities and food stalls for an example for the food they had American hot dogs, butter chicken, churros and alot more, for the activities they had performances like dance, music and kapahaka.

They had a 3 point contest which is shooting a basketball from the three point line in the gym and they also had beach volleyball in the sand pit as well. My favourite part about the day was Our performance because it was just a vibe with everybody that was performing I felt like I belonged there.

Nga Whakataetae KapaHaka kura tuarua o te motu 2024

Kia Ora In Maori we watched Te Pu O Te Wheke they are a kapahaka group from kaikohe and This was one of the best performances I’ve seen in awhile and I think it was a great performance but a stand out performer from their Kaitataki tane (Male leader) His performance was very unique but it was an outstanding performance by him. My favourite item out of their bracket was their Haka, It was well put together and to me it was like a organised chaos which is a great way to express the art form of Te ao haka.

The meaning of Te Pu o te wheke well from what I’ve been told is Kaikohe (the place this kapa is from) is the main hub of the north due to all its roads connecting to other places of the north and these roads also represent the tentacles of the Wheke and Kaikohe is right in the center of it all.

Out of the 42 groups that got to represent our area I would place them if not top 1 in our area or Numer 1 in Te Tai Tokerau.

Overall I’d give it a 8/10

Trigonometry

In L1 maths we have been learning about trigonometry.
We had continued to work on this topic for one week and in that week I had gained a wide range of knowledge around the topic trigonometry.
I felt the work was really easy once I go the hang of it but I got carried away helping others instead of helping my own self before anything which made me fall behind in work.
A part I found the most confusing part of trigonometry was trying to remember every little detail that was given in the question because there would be subtle changes in the question that would make the way of solving the equation completely different.
If I had a choice I wouldn’t continue to learn about trigonometry because it does my head in.

Pythagoras theorem was also very easy, the difference between the two math topics is with trigonometry you have to use angles or try to find the angle using SIN, COS, TAN. These are three main components you need to solve a trigonometry equation.
with the Pythagoras theorem you only have to try figure out what the side are of a right angled triangle.

Overall I didn’t enjoy this maths topic but I know I’m gonna need it somewhere along the road of life.

If I could go anywhere for free where would I go

To be honest I Have no clue where I would go but if I had to choose one place it would be to America because there is so much more there then there is here in New Zealand.
for example there is more food there better paying jobs more places to explore and just do everything I cant do here.
I will get there by plane obviously I’m not just gonna walk all the way over there dumb question
.
actually nah I wanna go to japan to see Kotahi and his family because i really like the food Kotahi’s ancestors learned how to make like fried rice and all that stuff.
and I also want to go see yuji nishida play volleyball because he is so cracked at the game the way i would want to go there is by a huge as cruise ship and to basically live on there until i reach japan because japan is fun and cool as from the pictures Ive seen on google and yeah.
I would want to go and see all the cool anime places and food places that there are to see because it would be very cooland yeah thats all i have to say

Leadership speech

Ladies and gentlemen, leadership is crucial for success in any organization. Whether you are working in a small startup or running a multimillion dollar company, effective leadership can make all the difference.

At its core, leadership is about providing direction, inspiration, and motivation to those around you. It requires the ability to communicate a clear vision and strategy, as well as the courage to take decisive action when necessary.

But leadership is not just about telling people what to do. It’s also about listening to others, building relationships, and fostering a culture of trust and respect. To be a great leader, you must be willing to learn from your mistakes and take responsibility for your actions.

Some of the key qualities of great leaders include vision, commitment, integrity, empathy, and resilience. A strong leader is able to inspire others to join him or her on a mission and to persevere in the face of adversity and challenge.

It’s important to understand that leadership is not a one-size-fits-all approach. Different situations may require different types of leadership styles. However, regardless of the context, effective leadership always requires a willingness to learn, adapt, and grow.

In conclusion, leadership is essential for success in any endeavor. By embodying the qualities of a great leader, we can inspire others and achieve our goals together. Thank you.
